Having been closed for more than two years, proposals are being put forward to redevelop the former Buzz Bingo site in Chatham, and local residents, businesses and community groups are invited to have their say.

Donard Living is consulting with the public on its plans to transform the site at the junction of Union Street/The Brook and the A2 New Road, which would create approximately 230 apartments and a small amount of commercial retail space.

The site offer the opportunity to develop a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments split between two buildings. This will be accompanied by supporting amenity space, commercial space and car parking. Extensive landscaping, a play area, and private outdoor amenity space will provide residents and visitors with areas to meet, relax and socialise.

The homes themselves will be low-cost and energy-efficient, generating up to 60 per cent less carbon than required by current building regulations.

Paul Thornton of Donard Living said: “We believe these new homes proposals will transform this area of Chatham, breathing new life into a long disused site. We look forward to sharing our plans with the community.”

Having recently secured permission for a major site in the heart of Bristol Donard Living is also progressing plans to build 374 apartments at Bardell Wharf in Rochester.

A public exhibition is being held at The Salvation Army, Church Street, Chatham, ME4 4BT, from 2pm to 8pm on Tuesday, 1 November. Experts from the project team will be on hand to answer questions and people are welcome to drop in any time.

More information about the plans will soon be available at www.DonardLiving-Chatham.co.uk
